S.Korea vs N.Korea : hypothetical warfare scenario
Let's say Korea resume combats (technically they are still at war), what would be the outcome?

South Korea would win the war, no doubt about that. Even without American help, the North Koreans wouldn't stand a chance against their high-tech southern neighbour.

The main reason why the war hasn't yet happened is because the North Koreans have shitload of artillery and missiles pointed at South Korea's civilian population. The sheer cost of a South Korean victory would simply be too high, so it's not worth it.

(IMO, he interesting bit is that Koreans have a deep historical grudge against Japan. Both sides hate the Japs more than each other. The worst-case scenario for Japan is probably that North Korea will fire off their nukes at Tokyo, and then surrender to South Korea before anyone can retaliate.)

I voted mutual destruction, although I agree with SDTE that S. Korea is way ahead of it's northern counterpart in conventional warfare.

We must dissent.

I tend to agree. South Korea would win, but the destruction would be immense. A Pyrrhic victory.

North Korean leaders will have no remorse taking everything to hell with them. They have built such a ruthless cult that, if cornered, will brutally destroy everything it can, AND itself, without the slightest remorse. In that aspect they are similar to Israel ("attack us and we will empty the barrel"), with the difference they don't even value the life of their own people.

Sometimes it's entertaining how they challenge our establishment of crooks, but ends there. This society of red ants is one the biggest epitomes of Asiatic barbarity since Genghis Khan, even ahead of Chinese and akin.

Stalemate with heavy losses to the DPRK, but depending on how well the old but numerically superior airforce holds up to a smaller better equipped air force and defences against cruise missiles.

North Korea wouldn't stand a chance. Their equipment is shit and their communications are primitive, they wouldn't even know what is happening if South Korea would launch a massive attack. If the South would do the first strike it would be a blitzkrieg.
