Thumbs Up Here, we support our local teams!

Regardless of the sport in question, we who appreciate rootedness, identity, tradtion, culture and locality should always support our home teams.

Death to the trendy wankers who pretend to be passionate fans of football clubs from thousands of miles away and spit on their local teams! PERKELE

Anyway, use this thread to express support for your local team(s)!

I'll start by expressing my undying love for my hockey team, Espoon Blues! We made history yesterday when we tied the play-off round against KalPa to three wins each (KalPa lead by 3 wins, takes 4 to win the round). No team has ever before managed to tie the games after losing the three first ones. The deciding match will be played today, in a couple of hours.

Yesterday's game was euphoric. Blues tied the game a minute before the end and then won on during the continuation period! Really good atmosphere in the arena. Hug

Yes, it seems that the Lesboo boys have fighting left spirit after all! thumbs up Big Grin

Yes, never happened before in Finland, and only 7 times in history in other ice hockey leagues, or so I'm told by the sports journos. No mean achievement.

I like to look at the human self-model as a neurocomputational weapon, a certain data structure that the brain can activate from time to time.

Well, I don't know how I can support my home team, they won't simply do better than me no matter how I root for them and will remain in the last tier for many years to come Big Grin

Football is the most popular sport here.

Our local teams and their league are crap. Simply as that. That's why we have to look up to Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK to find some quality entertainment. cool

But if it's local teams you want, local teams you'll get! Let me start off with something I'm at least partially proud of. The fans.

The Maniacs, supporters of F.K. Željezničar.

Local team I support in my city is a Red Star (Црвена Звезда) Smile
It's like a family tradition in us, my family, to be red to the core Big Grin

Ceahlăul,a football team,it's named after a local mountain. It was formed in 1919,so it's probably the oldest Romanian team to play in Liga 1(there are others but they were formed in Transylvania - at that time held by the Austro-Hungarian empire).
Never won anything, best place in the championship was 3rd but the Romanian football federation changed the rules during the championship so Steaua Bucharest(the most popular football team in Romania - formed during communism and it was sort of an equivalent to CSKA Moscow, thus always favored by the communists to win the football championship) would end up on the 3rd place. The best international result was 2-2 at home and 1-1 away with Juventus Torino in the Intertoto cup.
It was the 1st team in Romania to modernize it's stadium but nobody ever remembers that and the team will probably never win anything unless an important sponsor is found Smile .

Not really into watching football at all, but spiritually supporting my local team (however shitty they may be) is a given. Tongue
