Excuse the silly question, but what way is the best to tag videos with subtitles in Belarusian: BelSub, BelSubs, Bel Sub, Bel Subs?

RE: 'Ask a native speaker' thread
Is there a reason it has to be so short? The full phrase is obviously best!

"And now if a whole nation fell into that? In such a case, I answer, infallibly they will return out of it. For life is no cunningly-devised deception or self deception, it is a great truth that thou art alive, that thou hast desires, necessities: neither can these subsist and satisfy themselves on delusions, but on fact. To fact, depend on it, we shall come back: to such fact, blessed or cursed, as we have wisdom for."

Belfie.

Not in haunts of marble chill,
Temples drear where ancients trod,—
Nay, in oaks on woody hill
Lives and moves the German God.

Are all these forms in use, or do they exist only 'potentially' in the language?

Many of the forms are "theoretical" and not in use.

Hey W.R., assume I would want to learn some Belarusian just for the shizzle, is there any learning material you could recommend? I would be content with some easy to achieve stuff like basic reading comprehension and tourist level communication skills, so it doesn't need to go really far.

This book is good:

[Image: Krivitskij_A.A.Mihnevich_A.E.Podluzhnyj_...ryasch.jpg]

It was published in 2008, its older version (1994) is in the Internet: here. It reads easily.

The black belt for mastering the Belarusian language can be awarded only to those who reach this level, though.

Nice, thank you. Don't know if I should really go for it, but acquiring some basics would be fun I guess. Big Grin

Quote:Маё шанавáнне (шанаванне) – приветствие с выражением почтительности.
Is there a Velikorussky cognate for the second word here?

Oddly enough, a Yevreika wrote "Шана това! И всего самого наилучшего. С уважением ..." in an email to me today. I assume the ToBa part is like in the congratulatory phrase "Mazel tov" that they have, but is this shana bit shared with the Kriviche?! Big Grin
