I lol'd.

Otherwise good interview.

EU, US offering their own democratic stimulus package to Ukraine:

Quote:Europe, US to offer financial aid to Ukraine, says EU official

BRUSSELS — The European Union and the United States are working on a plan for significant short-term financial assistance for Ukraine, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton was quoted on Sunday as saying.

Ashton said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that the package would be aimed at helping Ukraine get through a transition period during which a broad-based interim government could approve political and economic reforms and prepare for presidential elections, currently due next year.

The EU and the United States are "developing a plan - a Ukrainian Plan, I have suggested they call it - that looks at what do we need to do in different parts of the economy right now to make things better," the paper quoted Ashton as saying on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

RE: Ukrainian Spring
^Yep I read about this too today from another source (at another forum ;) ). It seems it would be a short term measure until the IMF plans for Ukraine can kick in.

Here's part of the NY Times article that I read this morning:

Quote:KIEV, Ukraine — When President Viktor F. Yanukovych returns to work on Monday after a four-day sick leave, he will find that even after that brief absence his options for resolving Ukraine’s political crisis have already narrowed.

His choice may now be between an inevitably bloody suppression of antigovernment protesters or a surrender of authority that could leave him as president but empower his opponents to chart a pro-European course.

Mr. Yanukovych, who has faced a sustained civil uprising since late November, when he backed away from a promise to sign political and free-trade accords with the European Union, has seen his position erode substantially in recent days.

Support he had been relying on from Russia — particularly $15 billion in credit that Ukraine desperately needs to cover basic expenses — was suspended last week by the Kremlin, which expressed pointed displeasure over the growing political uncertainty in Ukraine. And the forced resignation of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and the rest of the cabinet on Tuesday showed Mr. Yanukovych sacrificing some of his staunchest political allies, in a failed bid to appease his critics by offering them senior positions.

The rest can be read here.

What struck me even in this paragraph is that the Kremlin suspended paying Ukraine this $15 billion dollar credit. I was under the impression that when Putin and Yanukovych signed the agreement that there was explicit mention that there'd be no strings attached. Was that right? Or did I misunderstand the agreement?

US sees Russian hand in envoy's bugged call

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two senior American diplomats, thinking their conversation about the Ukraine was secure and private, were caught disparaging the European Union in a phone call that was apparently bugged, and U.S. officials say they strongly suspect Russia of leaking the conversation (...)

In the audio, voices resembling those of Nuland and Pyatt discuss international efforts to resolve Ukraine's ongoing political crisis. At one point, the Nuland voice colorfully suggests that the EU's position should be ignored. "F--- the EU," the female voice said. (...)

Yankee "diplomats" are even more retarded than the average American, probably because they are rich and bored and get into their positions not through any qualification for the job but through their campaign donations. But whining about wiretapping right now in the middle of the Snowden revelations about the NSA's standard operating procedures is just priceless. The pot calling the kettle black!

RE: Ukrainian Spring
A U.S. ambassador to the Ukraine who speaks neither Russian nor Ukrainian but only Spanish, and an ugly, Jewish Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs with only an B.A. from Brown University who just happens to be married to the crazy Jewish neocon Robert Kagan. Honestly, you couldn't make it up if you tried. Every Ukrainian still flying the stars and stripes should be beaten till they have fled to Alaska. This is soooo going to become a penalty without a goalie for Putin!
