Le Courrier - Switzerland

Free Bosnia from IMF's control

The poverty and unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina are the result of the IMF's economic policies, the left-leaning daily Le Courier criticises: "Under pressure from the IMF, Bosnia has tried out a 10 percent flat tax and courted investors. But for now all they're interested in is the raw materials like logged timber, which they export to Europe and then sell back to the Bosnians in the form of finished products. The result of these brilliant policies: unemployment in Bosnia is now higher than at the end of the Bosnian War. Neither the bloated and corrupt public administration nor the floods of people leaving the country have reversed this trend. … Will the Bosnians' anger change things? Remarkably, this social movement has transcended the absurd social rifts inherited from the war. For the construction of a state and a community of individuals that are free of international tutelage, there can be no other path." (11/02/2014)

Yeni Şafak - Turkey

Turkey must support its Bosnian brothers

Turkey can and must support Bosnia and Herzegovina, columnist İsmail Kılıçarslan writes in the pro-government daily Yeni Şafak: "The Turkish government wants to shoulder responsibility in Bosnia to protect peace and help reconstruct the country. ... Above all, Turkey must do three things: first it must use financial injections to stop the economy from shrinking. Secondly it must draw up a mid- and long-term development plan and convince all sides of its merits. And thirdly, it must lend its support to politicians with whom Turkey can cooperate. The dreams of our Bosnian brothers must not be disappointed. To anyone who asks what business we have in Bosnia, I answer: we have as much business there as in our own country." (11/02/2014)

I'm guessing the Serbs and Croats in Bosnia aren't Turkey's bros?

Too Nordic.

"And now if a whole nation fell into that? In such a case, I answer, infallibly they will return out of it. For life is no cunningly-devised deception or self deception, it is a great truth that thou art alive, that thou hast desires, necessities: neither can these subsist and satisfy themselves on delusions, but on fact. To fact, depend on it, we shall come back: to such fact, blessed or cursed, as we have wisdom for."
