World Cup 2014
Brazil 3-1 Croatia

Brazil's defender Marcelo scoreed an own goal to give Croatia the lead. Neymar scored Brazil's first and second goal, the second after Brazil had been given a "generous" penalty kick. The third goal that sealed the win for the hosts came from Oscar.

Regarding Nishimura:

Quote:"He caused such dismay in a World Club Cup game that in the Democratic Republic of Congo, fans of the offended team, TP Mazembe, went looking for post-match vengeance.

Unfortunately, a lack of racial understanding from the Congolese saw supporters get their revenge by vandalising Chinese restaurants after the game, despite Nishimura being Japanese."

Spain is headed the same way as France did in 2002. Both the ruling world champion and the Euro champion, they were fat, lazy and complacent, and didn't make it out of their initial group.

Del Bosque will have major challenge keeping his team from unraveling altogether. dunno

I wouldn't expect anything less of a Finn concerning football. Big Grin The Spanish side SHOULD have finished the Dutch team in the first half, but failed to capitalise upon a woeful Dutch midfield/defence through a lack of consistent and non-present strikers. Spain is all good for possessing the ball and creating multiple chances in the box (and certainly they showed this in the last two major cups) but tonight they showed why a team cannot progress without an 'out - n - out' goal hanger. Spain failed in the first half because they fail at finishing.

The Dutch won because the Spanish side failed to close them down at root, stop possession in the midfield, and gave them time to work their greater players into a position that exploited the Spanish sides unwillingness to close down early and play the ball safe.

It will be interesting to see how both sides progress beyond the group stages.

^ I said to the better half that that ref was mad on Brasillian fanny. That, and he loved his new 'white-line' spray can.

I am still trying to get over how shite the opening ceremony was. Thank all the gods it stayed true-ish to Brasillian culture, but when J-Lo popped up I turned off and went to have a piss.

The Dutch were tactically more prepared for the game. They broke up Spanish posession and control and made counters and had better scoring opportunities (which they capitalised on). Before the equaliser there were several barely offsides that already signaled things to come: once the flag wasn't raised, they would break through the right flank with a through ball, and it was obvious it was somehting their coach had emphasised and something they had practiced specifically against the Spanish system.

What's that you say? You are mocking my country's glorious footballing history? Why, I'll have you know that if it wasn't for an overtime own goal in the last qualifier, we might have made it to France '98! PERKELE

Plus, because Casillas fell asleep at half-time. Chile's pure white, absolutely-no-mestizo-whatsoever team must be hyped about taking down the madre patria next week.

Brazil is the most multiethnic country in the world, but watching some of the tourist propaganda clips they show before and after the matches, you'd be forgiven for thinking the country is located somewhere in sub-Saharan Africa. Didn't watch the opening ceremonies, but apparently some bald fellow with white trousers is a thing now.

RE: World Cup 2014
I quite honestly enjoyed their destruction last night, as their arrogant stance became annoying.

I especially regret that Sneijder slipped in the 90th minute, and didn't managed to ram the last nail to their coffin.

The reason for Spain's miserable fail is the same as for Barcelona's during the last Champions League season (which is in line with Abreodan's reasoning).

And as much as I enjoy seeing an ethnically homogeneous team such as Italy's (save for Balotelli; who was also raised by Italian parents though), I am going to root for England during tonights match, based on the same argument.

EDIT: Ok, I must confess, witnessing Casillas worst defeat in his professional career, made me also feel sorry for him at one point. Big Grin.
Then I remembered he earns multiple millions a year, and I once again wished Sneijder, van Persie and Robben to continue their massacre.
