RE: World Cup 2014
I really enjoyed watching the Dutch play - and this is coming from a German. It is incredible how Robben can race and still keep the ball. The obnoxious Spanish hubris may now be their downfall.

I especially regret that Sneijder slipped in the 90th minute, and didn't managed to ram the last nail to their coffin.

The reason for Spain's miserable fail is the same as for Barcelona's during the last Champions League season (which is in line with Abreodan's reasoning).

And as much as I enjoy seeing an ethnically homogeneous team such as Italy's (save for Balotelli; who was also raised by Italian parents though), I am going to root for England during tonights match, based on the same argument.

EDIT: Ok, I must confess, witnessing Casillas worst defeat in his professional career, made me also feel sorry for him at one point. Big Grin.
Then I remembered he earns multiple millions a year, and I once again wished Sneijder, van Persie and Robben to continue their massacre.

Same here. Spain simply didn't turn up for the match. Casillas hadn't played for months before this match, so it was down to the Spanish defenders to stop the ball...which they didn't. Spain and the Netherlands play very similar possession based football, but what's the point of keeping the ball if you can't score? Last night, it seemed that the Spanish bubble simply burst.

My local football side has seven Spanish footballers (Michu, Chico etc) and we play with the same tiki-taka style, our possession averages something like 69%, but when we're up against sides with the same style of play as us but much sharper playing and finishing instinct, we don't have much chance of winning.

Agreed, Robben's speed but also his execution, especially at his age was amazing.

With that performance the froggers won't survive the group phase.

RE: World Cup 2014
If Pepe had tried that shit 35 years ago with Westphalian muscle mountain Horst Hrubesch (pictured below) or players like former deacathlete Hans-Peter Briegel (who always played without shin guards), he subsequently would have received the last rites directly on the pitch before being put down with a coup de grâce.

A haircut like you're trying to look like a Bad-era Michael Jackson is definitely worth a red card. And that headbutt was pretty nasty too.

I like to look at the human self-model as a neurocomputational weapon, a certain data structure that the brain can activate from time to time.
