RE: World Cup 2014
U.S. lost to Germany 0-1 on 6/26 but the yanks are still in it after a good game. I've never been into a World Cup like I've been as of late. Eek

You goddamn communist heathen, you had best sound off that you love the Virgin Mary... or I'm gonna stomp your guts out!

RE: World Cup 2014
It's all a scam, partly to get Yank money into the hands of those running the European game, and partly to extend the grip of panem et circenses over the American viewing public themselves... ;)

"And now if a whole nation fell into that? In such a case, I answer, infallibly they will return out of it. For life is no cunningly-devised deception or self deception, it is a great truth that thou art alive, that thou hast desires, necessities: neither can these subsist and satisfy themselves on delusions, but on fact. To fact, depend on it, we shall come back: to such fact, blessed or cursed, as we have wisdom for."

RE: World Cup 2014
The recent popularity of football (none dare call it soccer!) in the U.S. is basically due to the Red Bull sponsorship of the New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer (MLS), over thirty years after the first serious attempt to introduce football to the U.S. with the all-star team New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League (NASL).

RE: World Cup 2014
Speaking of the popularity of footie in America, it seems that whenever the cognitive underclass of that great nation is reminded of the sport's existence, they cannot seem to help but start grunting about how "boring" and "sissy" it is, just like a baboon on the savannah cannot help but start screeching at his mates at the sight of a lion. That results in regurgitations like this.

And here's much needed bitch-slap already, 48 hrs. later.

However one thing that's missing from Liddell's list of moronic arguments is the "Americans who X are not Americans" thing (X here being "liking football"): for those Americans who are more American than those Americans who are less American than those who are more American than those Americans who are less American (let's call them "American-Americans") it's a great logic/defense mechanism: 100% of Americans are 100% how you want them to be, because after all, if they are any different from what you want Americans to be, then they are not Americans at all! thumbs up

Americans have a short attention span and weak bladders, so they cannot follow a complete half time without commercials every five minutes and potty breaks.

Can't help it: this made me laugh.

(All the other Tim Howard memes I've seen kinda suck tho, sadly.)

Weird life when many South American teams have more European phenotypes than most European teams have.

Weird life when the only Brazilians you see at stadiums are white (as they are, with few exceptions, the only group who can afford the tickets). One would think Brazil is some sort of aryan paradise by looking at the World Cup. LOL
