Goldman Sachs boss: 'imperative' that UK stays in EU

Gary Cohn, the president of Goldman Sachs, says Britain remaining in the EU 'is best thing for all of us'

Britain must stay in the European Union if it wants to retain its status as the one of world's main financial hubs, the president of Goldman Sachs has warned.

Gary Cohn said London was the only financial capital to rival New York. He added that the US investment bank wanted to keep its European headquarters in the city.

"I think for the UK it's imperative to keep the financial services industry in London," he told the BBC. "We all want to stay in London.

"I think that having a great financial capital of the world staying in the UK and having the UK be part of Europe is the best thing for all of us."

Trying to save a few shekels by not having to have both a UK and EU headquarters perhaps? The intenernational financial entity isn't going away if the exit comes with a Conservative or UKIP government that is for sure. Switzerland manages?

Britain's economy is so intertwined with the rest of Europe that it wouldn't make any difference if we left or not.

I'll just leave two nice pieces of English folk music here:
