Douma chem attack is the dumbest thing yet - East Ghouta was finished by then. What was the point? Revenge? Intimidation?

Provided that Bashar the Lion of Syria did that, then consider the following (Latynina’s opinion from the yesterday’s radio show):

1. Those fighters in East Ghouta were sick Islamist fucks. With their families and possibly hostages. And/or their own families held as hostages.
2. They had been given humanitarian corridors to leave. Few used the opportunity.
3. Bashar al-Assad’s army is not numerous, and (beside Alawites) not that motivated (when compared to Islamists).
4. There are plenty of hollows and underground passages there.
5. Thus under such circumstances throwing heavy chlorine from a helicopter to kill off those who was hiding in the hollows and passages was justified from a practical perspective.

Ghouta was finished, evacuation negotiations were on-going. Most areas with tunnels had already been captured (which had been controlled by other factions anyway). JaI had no way of re-supplying or withstanding a long siege. Militarily a completely pointless attack if it did occur as Western powers say.

Well, then maybe it did not occur as Western powers say, and that wench is not all-knowing.

And thanks for the information, I have not followed that war closely.
