Serbia is engaging in military exercises with Russia and NATO, closer relations with the EU and trading with the Eurasian Union. Serbia is sitting between two chairs. But is that the smart tactic?

It is called blackmail and if you play your cards right it is a winning strategy.

If Serbia continues to be pro-Russian, it could actually be good news if and when Serbia joins the EU. I believe the sanctions vote had to be unequivocal for instance, Serbia would vote against these.

That's a strange wish considering Serbia is not joining the EU for at least 10 years. By then Serbia will have dropped much of pro-Russian pretensions and become pro-Western like Bulgaria or Croatia. Pro-Russianism in Serbia has similar roots as it has in Greece, the hope that they can help them salvage Kosovo and in Greece's case, Constantinople. It's silly as we all know Russia acts according to its own interests, not others.

I do not think the EU will last another ten years. A least not as a monetary union, and it defnitely will not become a political union anytime soon.
