EU Foreign Affairs Chief: Europe Needs an EU Army
EU Foreign Affairs Chief: Europe Needs an EU Army

Soon after Britain voted to leave the European Union (EU), its foreign affairs chief, Elmar Brok, urged the economic and political bloc to go ahead with plans to create an army.
The German politician told Die Welt that EU countries need to cooperate more closely on issues of defence, and suggested the EU needs a military headquarters. He said:

“We need a common (military) headquarters and a coalition (of EU countries) acting in accordance with the permanent structural cooperation of the EU Treaty. From such a group an EU army could eventually arise.”

Mr Brok suggested the forces be modeled on the Franco-German Brigade, a special military brigade of the Eurocorps of the European Union. (...)

I suppose one of the tasks of the EU army will be to "secure democracy", if it looks like some members state is about to elect a "right-wing" (i.e. one that actually represents of the interests of its people, rather than the neo-landed gentry of Bryssels) government?

I like to look at the human self-model as a neurocomputational weapon, a certain data structure that the brain can activate from time to time.

Bring it on. Makes the impending coup d'etat much more likely.

What impending coup? Where? By whom?

Doesn't really matter by whom and where. But it will start with one EU country collapsing under the strain which then will hopefully trigger a chain reaction.

After Brexit, Germany pushes ahead with EU army plans
https://next.ft.com/content/8b97923c-490...e9211e86ab

Before the vote, Remainers insisted there were no plans for an EU army - clearly there is. However these plans will now advance without the British veto.

Infact, without Britain the Eurofederalists will probably start getting their own way more of the time. There are now only a few non-Euro countries, of which Sweden, Denmark and Poland are the most important. I hope the coming EU powergrabs encourages more countries to join us on the outside - eg, Sweden, the Netherlands, or Italy.
